Judgement Day is the second book in Josie Jaffrey’s Seekers series, an urban fantasy series set in Oxford, England.
Judgement Day is the second book in the Seekers’ series and follows Jack Valentine. She’s part of the Seekers, a group who track down vampires who kill humans and are a risk of exposing the existence of vampires to humanity. May Day was a thrilling introduction to the series, but Judgement Day only adds to that. There’s a layer of intrigue, and then another, and another. You can keep looking and find even more. I can’t wait to go back to read it again with all the knowledge I have now.
Jack’s relationships are in the spotlight for this book. She’s very emotional and tends to follow her gut and heart more than her mind. She speaks before she thinks. No wonder she always finds trouble. That’s one of the things that make her a fun protagonist because you know wherever she goes, something will happen. But Jack isn’t the only fun character. All of her characters feel real, their personalities consistent, and the dynamics between the characters aren’t forced. It just makes sense, and that’s incredibly hard to do in a world with so much going on and no one really shows their real face.
Without giving away too much about the ending, there are big shifts coming into the vampire world. If you’ve read Jaffrey’s other series, you might have an inkling of what’s coming. Still, I’m looking forward to the next book and hope it won’t be the last we see of Jack Valentine.
I give Judgement Day five stars and my recommendation. If you like vampires, urban fantasy, and intriguing detective stories, you will like this series. Pre-order it now and read May Day first.
